I can’t lie, I am pretty much always on Instagram but if I wasn’t you would worry right? I have been coaching businesses for 9 months now and as I research brands, I still see so many businesses not using the channel to its top potential, if this sounds like you, here are 3 statistics that explain why you need to improve your relationship with Instagram.

Social Media Consultancy for a Law Firm

Session One – Digital Marketing Strategy 

Poonam approached me with an exciting project. Working for a well established law firm in Leicester called TML Solicitors, she was keen to learn more about how her and the team could utilise Social Media to grow the business. She came to me wanting a new strategy but had limited knowledge, she wanted to understand more about Social Media Marketing specifically for Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, the channels the business were currently using.

What is most interesting about going into businesses and working with a whole team, is it gives me the opportunity to stress that in order for a business to succeed on Social Media, it needs to be a team effort, this also makes it more successful because each person then feels more involved and responsible for the growth.

Bespoke Marketing Consultancy

As each session is bespoke, this one lasted 2.5 hours and covered everything from Content Inspiration to Best Practice. My advice included a list of ways they can raise awareness and help to promote their expertise online and also offline.

Session Two – Blog Writing 

As Poonam began to adopt all the techniques we went through during our first session which included adding regular content to the companies blog, she realised her knowledge was very limited when it came to Blog writing. I was called in for a second session to focus on the best practice around writing & marketing Blog Posts.

Once again, this time the session was 1.5 hours. The main aim was to help her understand how blog posts differ from traditional writing as well as how to be creative with her content and also clever ways of marketing the Blog Posts.

Marketing Coaching for businesses

Sometimes a business comes to me because they are in a transitional phase, they need some help with their strategy but they also need someone to come in and help them brainstorm ideas, offer suggestions and give them alternative ways of doing their marketing.

The session with Big Fish Tutors was really interesting, limited by time, the established tutor business came to me with lots of goals. Having goals for the session make it much easier for me to tailor it. The session was focussed solely around Facebook, a channel that they know works well for their target audience. These goals included:

  • Improving content on their Facebook – ways of making it more engaging and attractive  
  • Facebook Groups – how to create and grow these
  • Using Facebook as a marketing tool – ways of constantly adding value

The team knew exactly what would work and wouldn’t but they hadn’t thought about the ways in which they could present this, so my role was very much to help them see the strategy from a different perspective. It was to give inspiration and create a plan of action that was manageable, it was also to help them reflect on their current facebook strategy and suggest ways this could be changed.

One of the most interesting things about this session was the realisation that businesses often don’t think about how simple changes to their strategy can make an big impact on their business and it was my job to point these out. Having someone come in and lead the session allowed the team to think outside the box and what was evident was that they knew exactly what kind of content they wanted to create, they just needed a chance to discuss this out loud. Leading such session and showing businesses the vast possibilities is on of the reasons I love my job!

3 Questions you should be asking yourself when creating content

The days have gone on Instagram when you can post a photo, put a short description, a few hashtags and see your engagement flurry, well unless you are a big brand with thousands of followers.

Apart from things like timing which is of course an important thing to think about and using certain # to help target your audience.  You need to be thinking about what you are posting and ways in which you can be adding value to your audience if you want to see positive growth.

There are 3 questions I believe you should be asking yourself when you are about to post an image but firstly, I think the process of sharing an image should start by putting yourself in your customers position, would you like this post?

– Are your posts adding value 

– Are your posts sharing your personal opinion 

– Are you solving problems for your customer

Sidhi from ethnic jewellery brand Aura by Sidhi came to me with a desire to improve her Social Media Marketing knowledge. Launching her business in mid 2018, she knew there was more she could be doing to market herself better but was confused about creating a good strategy and also ensuring she was targeting the right client profiles.

3 ways to gain following on Instagram

Instagram is THE channel at the moment, it was recently reported it had 300 million monthly active users. To put that figure into context, this was compared to Facebook’s 228 million and Twitter’s 9 million. So basically what I am trying to say is,  it’s the channel you need to be on. Many people I work with come to me with the burning question ‘How do I grow following’ and I spend a lot of time working with them to build a strategy and develop original content ideas.

If this is a question that has been on your lips for a while, there are a few things you can do to help grow the channel which I would like to share with you:

  1. Post Consistently – The best results come from those who post often. Personally, if you can create a strategy that includes unique content, you’ll also be able to stand out of the crowd.
  2. Use quality hashtags – I did a post about hashtags a little while back. It is definitely worth spending some time researching the best hashtags to use. Need to know how and where to use them? Check out my recent article here.
  3. Engage – Engaging with your audience is so important. Engagement is one of the top determinators of whether a post will be showed or not. However, don’t worry, you don’t need to spend hours messaging every follower, simply engage your followers by liking or replying to their comments to your posts.
